My Story

Hi! I'm raising money for Orchestras for All by taking part in their Musical Chairs event. I’ll be playing in a full symphony orchestra (guitar!) on 16th November, and I’m aiming to raise £300 in sponsorship. We will be performing a variety of pieces from OFA's season of music making including Verdi’s Anvil Chorus and an arrangement of a traditional Ghanaian song, A Keelie Makolay.

My connection with Orchestras for All is through my daughter Anna who became involved in 2011 when she was training as a music teacher. She has been connected with them ever since and is now on the OFA staff as Head of Programmes. Even though I'm biased (of course!) I think it's a great organisation doing a terrific job for young people with complex lives, who lack financial, social or cultural support and repeatedly miss out on the unique opportunity of ensemble music-making.

I'll be thrilled if you are able to help me reach my sponsorship target. In return, although I can't make any promises about the standard of my playing, I do promise to watch the conductor, Sean Edwards, Head of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, London and Artistic patron of OFA!

Thank you so much!
